This collection of birth and christening records includes almost 200 years of information, dating from just 20 years after the first colonists arrived in the state in 1733 up until the middle of the 20th century. Although Georgia did not begin statewide registration of births until 1919, many cities and counties had recorded this information from much earlier. For example, Atlanta has collected birth records since 1887. In addition, local churches often recorded this information from much earlier.
