The Views of Ireland give us an opportunity to see Ireland as it once was, the Ireland our ancestors lived in. Explore this image collection to see pictures of Ireland through their eyes. Images were taken during the 19th century but primarily in the 1890s.
The images included in this collection span several typical scenes of life in historic Ireland in the late 1800s. While most of the pictures of Ireland are scenic, there are some portraits included, such as a woman at a spinning wheel, two people riding in a carriage, or three men sitting at the beach.
Captions are written in gold on each image and can be found in one of the bottom corners.
Locations in the Republic of Ireland dominate the image collection, including the following counties:
Northern Ireland include County Antrim, with a few from Counties Down and Fermanagh.
